Reese Witherspoon began seriously pursuing her acting career following attending Stanford University. Following a handful of parts, including Pleasantville and Election. The role she played as Elle Woods on the blockbuster Legally Blonde marked a pivotal point in her professional life. Witherspoon was honored with the Academy Award, in 2005 for her performance in Walk the Line. Her most recent films also include Water for Elephants This Means War and Wild for which she received yet another Oscar nomination. Witherspoon also enjoyed success in television as a director and co-star on David E. Kelley's popular award-winning TV show Big Little Lies. Witherspoon was born Laura Jean Reese Witherspoon on the 22nd of March, 1976, in New Orleans Louisiana. Witherspoon's parents are a medical doctor and a registered nurse. She grew in Nashville, Tennessee as the school's debutante and Harpeth Hall. Witherspoon made her debut in Nashville Tennessee in 1991 and answered the call for extras placed in her local newspaper. When she was only 14, she was cast as the leading lady in The Man in the Moon, her debut feature film. The first year she was out of high school Witherspoon thought about quitting acting and follow in the footsteps of her parents into the medical field. She was awarded the Catalonian International Film Festival Best Actress Award in the year 1996 due to her performance in Freeway. To devote the time needed to acting she decided to postpone her studies at college for a period of. In 2003 she debuted as a film star with The Invisible Man. In the following years, she has appeared on various TV shows such as House of Lies Whitney or Better Call Saul. Film credits include The Dictator, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and The Dictator. As well as her profession as a performer, Sheila is also an accomplished artist. She has displayed her work in numerous galleries.
