Aaliyah Dana Haughton exploded into fame in 1994, after she dropped her debut album Age Ain't Nothing But A number. Aaliyah Danahaughton was only 15 when the album became Gold. The group was strongly in the style of R. Kelly, and put the singer onto the scene. In the year 1996, Jermaine Durpri along with Timbaland worked together to create the second album of hers, One In A Million. This album featured the song If Your Boyfriend only Knew as the number one. Aaliyah gained notoriety as an R&B singer after the album's release. In 2000, she appeared in the action and romance film Romeo Must Die alongside martial arts legend Jet-Li. Joel Silver spotted her in the awards ceremony. The actress is the first Indian American to be from Connecticut. Mann is a contraction of her married first name Mankad. However, she uses both Aarti Mann and Aarti Majumdar as her professional name. Though she started her career in film and TV with a few minor roles her acting career gained momentum in the mid-2000s. Her other noteworthy works include Leverage 2012, Suits 2013, and Grey's Anatomy 2017. The actress also appeared in a variety of commercials that included Volvo and other major automobile brand names. She lives with her family in Los Angeles with her husband as well as her daughter, and will continue to pursue an acting career.
